Solving a complex issue with technology is challenging. After interviewing my sister about issues she had in her life and how her life could function better one issue stuck out as a problem that could be solved with the assistance of an app. Her issue resulted from being away from her family and her children's' over abundance of artwork. So many moments get lost while a child is growing so how can we capture them? How can we share those experiences with loved ones far away to make them feel a connection? My sister often returned home on visits with a small bundle of artwork to hand out to the family that her children had made. Many of the pieces were months old and things change drastically from month to month in a child's young life. I asked myself, what if there was an app to help my sister to easily share her children's artwork with the added benefit of archiving and documenting each piece.
The overall aesthetic of Look! had to be clean, easy to use but approachable so parents feel comfortable using the app. This app uses fun colors, with hard and soft elements so that their children's artwork is framed nicely and feels a part of each frame. This app has styling similar to Pinterest, but it incorporates many other colors which complements the wide variety of colors and elements used in children's artwork. Although the technology is more sophisticated, this app does not feel too sophisticated for its purpose. It simply feels like an extension of your child’s learning space with soft textures and hints of clean lines. This app feels friendly enough for any parent to be excited to use and not feel overwhelmed.
